Making more room

Last week was just so busy for us.
I almost feel like we could use another vacation!
Have you ever felt like that?
After getting everyone settled back in from our anniversary trip last weekend, we jumped right into the week with a pretty big project.
When you have 6 children living in a 1400 square foot house with 3 bedrooms, you have to be creative and think outside the box in relation to the sleeping arrangements and finding room for everyone.
The easiest solution is to just start stackin' 'em up!!
Our boys share a bunkbed in their room, and the girls were sharing one set of bunkbeds in their room.
Well, we were having some issues with everyone wanting to play musical beds every night and confusing the issue of who was going to sleep where.
So we decided that it was time to set up another set of bunkbeds in the girls room.

Daddy's "helpers"

Here's another reason why this project ALL afternoon....the crowding factor.

Then, of course, we had some of this going on too.

The finished project!!

Tight quarters, but we're getting used to the "dorm" feel we have going on in there!!

Celebrating the victory

We're celebrating the most powerful victory in human history this weekend.
My husband and I have the privilege of participating in the musical drama entitled, "The Centurion" at our church this weekend.
We've been dwelling on the lavish love of our Heavenly Father in sending the mortal, human manifestation of Himself in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, to die a horrific, despicable death for our foul, putrid sin.
Tomorrow we celebrate His victory over the bondage of death, the proof of our eternal life found only in Him...
Resurrection Sunday!!
May all your activities of this Passion Week culminate and find you at the door of the empty tomb of your risen Savior where new, eternal life, out from the shadows of death,  can be found.

Saturdays are for: Baseball!!

Grant decided that this spring he wanted to play baseball again.
He played with our local city league two years ago, and seemed to like it.
But I could tell that his ADHD really got in the way of him "getting" the game.
I could tell that he was bored in the outfield, had trouble focusing at the plate, and emotionally just mirrored his teammates reactions.  I could tell he had no idea why they were "high-fiving" each other!
He would climb in the van after the game was all over and never say another word about it.
Then he got smacked in the eye with the baseball one game (at the end of the season).
That was it.
He didn't want to play anymore.
Until this spring.
Whenever we asked if he wanted to register, he said no.
Until this spring.
This spring, his friend asked him if he was playing on his team again.
Last Saturday was opening day.
We'll be at the baseball field every Saturday this month.

Happy Birthday!!

2 weeks ago was my self-appointed "Personal Assistant's" 7th birthday!!

This precious child is such a gift of Grace from the Lord.
He knew I would need her.
She has such a servant's heart that neither her father nor I can take one ounce of credit for developing or nurturing.
It was programmed into her from God above.
She is such a helper; but not one that needs any instructions.
If something is lost in the house, ask Abby.  She always knows where it is.
If I'm getting ready to leave the house, Abby is making sure I have everything I need.
If I'm creating in the kitchen, Abby will be at my elbow, wanting to help.
If her younger siblings are fussing or disgruntled, Abby will entertain and help them work through the problem.
If it's time to sit quiet and do our schoolwork, Abby has her pencil and books in front of her.
If I'm cleaning a bathroom, Abby picks which fixture to clean with me and makes it sparkle.
A gift.
Not perfect....still has a few rotten spots, but precious to our family!!
Happy Birthday, Abby!!!
